Imagine a love story that involves a chocolate chip cookie and chocolate milk, a proposal at the Joshua National Park in California, and a wedding on the beach in Goa. Add a groom who practices contact poi to the mix, and you have a killer wedding!
Looking back at Shivani and Nihar’s wedding, the strongest emotion that flowed through the wedding days was joy. And why wouldn’t it when you have such a “weirdo” couple (their words not ours hehe) and family & friends from around the world joining in?
We will never be able to ever say what the one most memorable thing about this wedding was!
The customised badges that Shivani got made for every single guest (ours said “Bolo Paneer” and still adorn our camera straps!)? Our favourites were “Melodramatic Mummy” and “Dulhan ka pehla hero”, with “Chota Mamu Bada Swag” coming a close second! Or the uber cute seating charts for the reception with comic characters?
The seriously funny faces that Nihar pulled off during the shoot on the beach? During which we also ran into Diplo by the way!
The holi haldi on the beach? We are so glad we bought 2kgs of colour for this from Delhi! Imagine some 20-30 dressed up people playing holi on the beach! And we are quite sure the elders had so much more fun than the younger crowd hehe
Or the epic case of the mis-sized safa? Yes, you read that right! Nihar’s pagdi was a size or two small. What followed was probably one of the best on-the-spot solutions that Abhimanyu has ever come up with at a wedding!!!!!! A friend of Nihar’s (you saved the day Naavi!) knew how to tie a safa, a DIY safa was created on the spot with two stoles, and an awesome kalgi created using Arjun’s (Shivani’s brother) brooch from the shervani he wore the night prior! Quite an adventure to fit into 45 minutes! And the baraat still made it on time!
Well, we just answered our own question! The BEST thing about the wedding were Shivani and Nihar, their ever-smiling parents, the super-mischievous siblings and cousins, the emotional aunts and uncles, and the helpful friends, who all came together to celebrate love.
